Jemez

Ancient pueblo artifacts, including the mythical “Black Heart of God” have been stolen from the ruins of Astialakwa in the Jemez Mountains. The theft sets off a cascade of crime, including murder. Deputy Sheriff Matt Bertram, who has been assigned to the Jemez Mountains of Northern New Mexico, has become accustomed to his routine of writing speeding tickets and investigating minor crimes in the small village of Jemez Springs. With the theft of the artifacts, he finds himself engulfed in an investigation which will risk his own life and the lives of his closest friends.

In his fourth novel, author Mark David Albertson brings you a tale which will take you on an adventure in the heart of the beautiful Jemez Mountains of Northern New Mexico, as he paints a vivid picture of the land, mountains, and diverse people who live in the Jemez. Mark’s vivid imagination brings the reader a cast of characters who are odd, quirky, noble and brave. It is a novel with humor and adventure, filled with mystery wrapped in the supernatural, danger, suspense, comedy and tragedy. Mark’s humorous writing style will keep you entertained, laughing and on the edge of your seat to the very last word.

About

Mark David Albertson

Born in the “Atomic City,” Los Alamos, New Mexico, once the secret site of the Manhattan project, Mark loved and spent most of his time in the outdoors.  Mark joined the navy right after high school at the end of the Vietnam conflict and became a radioman on a destroyer escort. He left the navy with a dream of someday writing a novel incorporating the adventures of a young sailor, and in 2021 made that happen.

Mark has had a varied life, from sailor to lawyer to pastor to professor to rancher, and now, to writer.

Since his navy days, Mark was always a writer.  During his time practicing law and in the ministry, he published books and law journal articles both nationally and internationally, and taught as an adjunct professor at Dominion College, Northwest Baptist Seminary and Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary, but he always longed to write novels.  Mark had left the navy with colorful memories of travel to many countries and of the challenges serving at the end of Vietnam and during the cold war.

In 2017, Mark moved to the beach to write his first novel, the acclaimed thriller, Steaming: A Sea Story. In 2021, he published the second book of his Sea story series entitled, Spying: A Sea Story, and the third novel in the series, Stalking: A Sea Story was on the shelves in 2022. His fourth novel, still featuring the protagonist from his first three books is Jemez, set in the scenic mountains of Northern New Mexico. Jemez was an Amazon Bestseller in its first week of publication, was selected as a finalist for the Literary Global Book Award in 2023, and was praised by New Mexico Magazine’s December, 2023 issue in an article entitled “page turners.” Popular celebrity newsmagazines Red Carpet, NetNews Ledger, Apzo Media, New Mexico Magazine and more have featured Mark’s work and life.

Mark is married to fellow writer KE Meuir and now lives happily in Henderson, Nevada.

Great Thriller! The pages turn themselves
This is the third book in Mark David Albertson’s “Sea Story” series, and was my absolute favorite! Mark’s writing skills simply get better with each book he writes, and this book is evidence that he has honed his craft well. Mark still includes humor and quirky characters, as is his moniker, but his villain is much darker and easier to hate that in his previous books. The book makes a fitting end to the series, but he makes it clear that his hero, Matt Bertram will be back. The book is an incredibly fast read, and is one of those books for me, that just can’t be put down. I enjoyed the thrills, the locations and the characters. Home run for Mark David Albertson!

Great Book, well done. Loved it!

What a great story. Told in an exciting fast paced way. Many authors I try to read have so many characters, with such complex names my mind is swimming in the first chapter trying to keep up. This book worked for me. A very enjoyable and exciting read that was relaxing, engaging and fun without making my brain hurt.
I have read all three of Mark’s books and I feel this way about all of them. I hope there will be more.

A thrill ride that keeps you guessing to the end!

Mark David Albertson’s writing gets better with each book he writes. This is the third book in his Sea Story series, and it will take you for a ride! Mr. Albertson crafts a dynamic story with twists and turns that you won’t see coming, and even if you think you do, you will still be surprised! His characters, the quirky ones and the not-so-quirky ones are well-developed three-dimensional characters that you quickly learn to love or hate. I could not put this book down until the last page. A talented writer with a keen sense of character and plot development, his writing is direct and strong. I highly recommend Stalking, a Sea Story!
